Well, the Wellness Corner is here to offer encouragement, guidance, and support for your mental, physical, and spiritual well-being. Our goal is to help you manage stress and maintain a balanced lifestyle. When you visit the Wellness Corner, you are just a click away from a variety of helpful content.
We encourage you to check out our Stress Buster Video Series, based on research sited in the California Surgeon General’s report on stress management. The series includes a variety of evidence-based interventions that can help you reduce stress, improve health, and build resilience. These short videos provide tips, tools and guidance on a variety of topics such as Supportive Relationships, Quality Sleep, Experiencing Nature and more.
The articles and links in our Maintaining Wellness section provide information from organizations such as UCLA, UCSF, Cal Hope and the American Phycological Association that address issues such as isolation, anxiety and how to cope with short and long-term stress. There is also a link to The Good News Network, a website devoted to producing positively focused news stories. Visiting this site now and again is a great way to offset the predominantly negative news that surrounds us by exposing ourselves to stories focused on positive progress and hope.
The Music and Meditation section has links to relaxation offerings that require minimal effort. Click on a link for soothing music or gently falling rain and just let the sounds wash over you for a few minutes. Or, if you like, follow one of the short, guided meditations available to help you relax and center yourself.
They say laughter is the best medicine and we say an adorable animal video is the second best. Brighten your day by watching a few minutes of standup comedy, an accordion concert for cows or any of the variety of amusing videos in these sections. Whatever you choose, this medicine goes down smooth. No spoonful of sugar necessary.
And for times when stress reducing strategies are just not enough, the Wellness Corner also contains a list of Mental Health Warmlines and Hotlines. The caring staff working at these helplines can provide you with more personalized attention and also help direct you to additional resources for ongoing mental health support.
